I've had the pleasure of working at The Georgia School for the Deaf since August of 2006. Before teaching at GSD, I taught in Birmingham City Schools in Alabama and also The Missouri School for the Deaf.
Upon accepting a teaching position at GSD, I became the 5th grade teacher for the elementary department where I stayed for 4 years. After working in that capacity, I was then given the opportunity to work in an Instructional Coaching position and have worked in that capacity since August of 2010. For the 2014-2015 school year, I will be serving in the Instructional Coach Role in addition to teaching High School British and American Literature. I have an undergraduate degree in Deaf Education and a Masters of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, I am currently pursuing my doctorate degree from the University of Alabama I am thoroughly enjoying being back in the classroom and working with high school students. My goal as a high school English teacher is to help our students achieve their goal of a regular education diploma in addition to helping them realize their full potential in reading and writing. I am married to Steven Herston who is also employed at GSD as the Physical Education Teacher. We have one son, Abraham and three dogs-Casey, Toby, and Daisy Mae.
